Israel Prolongs Military Operation in Northern West Bank Refugee Camps

(MENAFN) The Israeli army has extended its ongoing military operation in the Tulkarem and Nur Shams refugee camps in the northern occupied West Bank until July 31, according to an official statement on Sunday.

Tulkarem Governor Abdullah Kamil said the Israeli military had decided to continue its operations in both camps through the end of next month.

The campaign initially began on January 21, 2025, as part of a broader Israeli military operation in the northern West Bank that started in Jenin before expanding to include Tulkarem and Nur Shams, both located in the Tulkarem governorate.

Kamil said the extension would further deepen the hardship faced by thousands of families who have already been displaced by the ongoing raids and operations.

He added that continued demolitions of homes and commercial structures, along with the destruction of infrastructure and widespread bulldozing inside the camps, have significantly worsened both humanitarian and economic conditions in the area.

The governor also renewed his appeal to international organizations and human rights groups, urging immediate intervention to halt the ongoing military operation.
