West Bank Town Holds Funeral for Palestinians Killed During Recent Clashes

(MENAFN) Residents of the town of al-Mughayyir in the central West Bank held funeral ceremonies on Wednesday for two Palestinians, including a teenager, who were killed in an incident the previous day during ongoing tensions in the area, according to reports.

The deceased were identified as 14-year-old Aws Hamdi al-Nasan and 32-year-old Jihad Marzouq Abu Naeem. Witnesses said the funerals took place under heightened military presence, with forces deployed around the town and repeated incursions reported throughout the area.

According to accounts from residents, tensions escalated during the procession when a military vehicle entered the gathering, which was perceived as provocative. Some young people responded by throwing stones, after which tear gas was reportedly fired before forces withdrew.

Palestinian health authorities said on Tuesday that two Palestinians, including a child, were killed and three others injured in an incident near a school in the town, according to reports.

Family members of the child described the tragedy as devastating. His grandmother said he was shot twice in the head and that the family had long feared for his safety following the earlier death of his father. She said they had tried to keep him safe by moving him between locations, but he was ultimately killed near his school, according to reports.

His sister described him as a regular student who attended school and spent time with friends, adding that what happened to him was deeply unjust, according to reports.
