IDF continue illegal army operation in West Bank for fourth day
Reports indicate that Israeli forces deployed additional troops to multiple neighborhoods, carried out extensive searches of Palestinian homes, and interrogated residents on the spot. Authorities also imposed a curfew in southern parts of Hebron as the operation continued. At least two Palestinians were reportedly detained in recent hours.
The operation resumed late Wednesday night following a temporary partial lifting of a curfew that had allowed residents to leave their homes on foot to obtain essential supplies.
The Israeli army announced the start of the military campaign on Monday, stating it would last several days and involve army units, the Shin Bet security agency, and border police. The operation is focused on the Jabal Jawhar area, citing a rise in armed incidents, clan disputes, and the presence of illegal weapons.
Social media videos since Monday have shown Israeli forces detaining Palestinians during the ongoing campaign. The illegal operation is taking place in Hebron’s H2 area, which falls under Israeli control according to the 1997 Protocol Concerning the Redeployment in Hebron between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization. This area includes neighborhoods surrounding the Old City and the Ibrahimi Mosque.
Since October 2023, Palestinian figures indicate that Israeli forces and settlers have murdered at least 1,107 Palestinians in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, injured nearly 11,000, and took hostages around 21,000.
