Gaza civil defense recovers thirty victims from same family from rubble
The victims belonged to the Salem family and were killed on December 19, 2023, when their house in the al-Rimal neighborhood was struck in an Israeli airstrike, according to a statement from the Civil Defense.
Reports indicate that a total of 60 family members may have been killed in the attack.
The house was the first site targeted in an organized effort by the Civil Defense to locate thousands of Palestinians believed to be trapped under collapsed buildings across the Gaza Strip.
Search operations are ongoing, using limited equipment such as an excavator, to recover bodies from the debris, the agency said.
Palestinian authorities report that Israel occupies more than half of Gaza and continues attacks on other areas outside its control. Since October 2023, nearly 70,700 Palestinians—mostly women and children—have been killed, and more than 171,000 injured, as the enclave has been largely reduced to rubble.
