Erdogan says Turkey’s Gaza message impresses Trump at UN meeting

(MENAFN) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Sunday said that Türkiye’s message during a Gaza-focused meeting at the UN General Assembly in late September “left an impression” on US President Donald Trump.

Speaking to university students in Istanbul, Erdogan emphasized that Türkiye delivered its message on Gaza in coordination with Muslim countries but maintained its own stance. “Our message, as Türkiye, left an impression on Trump,” he said.

Erdogan underlined Ankara’s determination on Gaza, vowing not to retreat. “We will continue on our path with determination… If we step back, we would not be able to account for it before God or before Gaza,” he stated. He also recalled addressing Israeli delegates directly during his UN speech: “…You do not go to war against cowards. We are not cowards.”

Highlighting Türkiye’s global role, Erdogan mentioned that Ankara will host a NATO leaders’ summit, following a previous summit held in Istanbul. He added that preparations include a “crescent-and-star concept” for the event.
