FM of Jordan calls for strict compliance to Gaza’s truce

(MENAFN) Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi took part in a panel discussion on “The Future of Global Security Governance” during the 21st Manama Dialogue 2025. Speaking alongside international counterparts, he emphasized that the top priority is ensuring full adherence to the Gaza ceasefire and addressing the severe humanitarian impact of the conflict, according to reports.

Safadi stressed the importance of linking stabilization efforts to a clear political horizon that leads to a just and lasting peace, noting that the two-state solution remains the only viable path. He highlighted ongoing efforts by the Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee to work with US and European partners to consolidate the ceasefire and commended the role of the US President in facilitating the agreement.

He underlined the need for a comprehensive post-ceasefire framework in Gaza, covering humanitarian aid delivery, early recovery, security, governance, and a transparent political roadmap. Safadi also warned against any attempts to divide Gaza, stating, “Gaza is one entity and an integral part of the occupied Palestinian territory. Since we all agree that the two-state solution is the only path to the just and lasting peace we seek, Gaza and the West Bank must remain inseparable.”

Safadi reiterated that Jordan will not deploy troops to Gaza, but stressed the country’s role as a hub for aid, its readiness to train Palestinian police, and its willingness to collaborate with an international UN-mandated force in areas such as training, command, and technical support.

He also called for a clear timetable for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, warning that their continued presence would undermine security, adding, "Once security is achieved, Palestinians must govern themselves, with any technocratic committee linked to the Palestinian National Authority (PNA)."

The minister emphasized the establishment of an international assistance mission with a defined mandate to support reconstruction, planning, capacity building, and institutional development. He urged Israel to remove obstacles to aid delivery and allow UN agencies and humanitarian organizations to operate effectively, while stressing that stability in the West Bank is crucial for lasting security in Gaza.

Safadi also reiterated support for the Palestinian Authority as the legitimate representative of the Palestinian people, noting President Mahmoud Abbas’s commitment to reforms. He called for assistance in Syria’s reconstruction that preserves its unity, sovereignty, and stability while ending Israeli attacks that threaten regional security, and stressed the importance of safeguarding Lebanon’s unity, sovereignty, and institutional stability.

On the sidelines of the dialogue, Safadi held bilateral meetings with senior officials from regional and international partners to enhance coordination on political and humanitarian developments. He met with leaders from several Arab countries, as well as foreign ministers from Europe and Asia, and US officials to discuss the Jordanian-US-Syrian roadmap for stabilizing southern Syria.

Safadi also coordinated with the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross to ensure adequate and sustained humanitarian aid reaches all parts of Gaza. During discussions with his Bahraini counterpart, the minister focused on strengthening historic ties and deepening cooperation across multiple sectors, reaffirming the shared commitment to regional stability and development.
