Netanyahu Orders “Immediate and Powerful Strikes” on Gaza
Moments after Netanyahu’s directive, Hamas announced that it would “postpone” the transfer of another fallen Israeli hostage’s body “scheduled for today, due to violations by the occupation.”
The Palestinian faction stated that the remains were found earlier that day “during search operations in one of the tunnels south of the Gaza Strip.”
As reported by Israeli media, beyond authorizing the new bombardments, Netanyahu also directed the IDF to widen its operational zone within Gaza.
The Prime Minister is reportedly in talks with senior U.S. officials regarding this expansion.
The confrontation that ignited the latest escalation allegedly took place in the southern Gazan city of Rafah earlier in the day. Israeli forces stationed there were fired upon with small arms and retaliated, while some accounts indicated that Israeli artillery was also active in the region.
Israel and Hamas had reached a truce in early October under Trump’s 20-point peace plan. As part of the arrangement, Hamas agreed to free all living Israeli captives and return the bodies of the deceased.
The group initially released 20 hostages and handed over 12 bodies; however, the exchange process has since encountered delays.
