IDF kills young Palestinian amid military campaign in West Bank
According to statements from Palestinian health authorities, the victim, aged 20, was killed in Qabatiya, a town located south of Jenin. Local witnesses reported that the shooting occurred amid confrontations that erupted after Israeli troops entered the town.
Residents said soldiers raided and searched multiple homes during the incursion. Similar military operations were carried out the same day in several other areas, including Jenin, Tulkarem, Ramallah, and Bethlehem, according to local radio reports.
Earlier Wednesday, Israeli forces began an extensive assault in the Tubas governorate. Reports from humanitarian and prisoner advocacy groups indicated that around 60 Palestinians were arrested, 10 others were injured, and numerous families were forcibly displaced during the operation.
This latest death adds to the rising toll of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces and settlers in the West Bank—now at 1,083 since the start of Israel’s military campaign in October 2023. Nearly 11,000 people have been wounded, and more than 20,500 arrested during the same period.
In a significant ruling last July, the International Court of Justice determined that Israel’s continued occupation of Palestinian territories is unlawful and urged the removal of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
