Olivia Rodrigo Denounces Gaza Genocide as “Horrific”
(MENAFN) American pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo spoke out Saturday about the escalating crisis in Gaza, describing the situation as “horrific and completely unacceptable.”
Through an Instagram story, Rodrigo expressed deep sorrow over the suffering endured by innocent Palestinians amid the ongoing conflict.
She emphasized the extreme hardships facing Gaza’s population, stating, “Mothers, fathers, and children in Gaza are starving, dehydrated, and being denied access to basic medical care and humanitarian aid.”
“There is no child in Israel, Palestine, or anywhere in the world who deserves to suffer through what we’re seeing these children have to endure. It is horrific and completely unacceptable. To give up on them is to give up on our shared humanity,” she added.
Rodrigo revealed that she contributed donations to UNICEF, urging others to support relief efforts if they are able: “to help support the victims of this horrifying situation and encourage you to do the same if you have the means.”
Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli military has continued an intense offensive on the Gaza Strip, rejecting international ceasefire appeals. The operation has resulted in the deaths of more than 58,000 Palestinians—primarily women and children—while devastating the area through relentless bombings that have caused severe food shortages and the spread of disease.
Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, charging them with war crimes and crimes against humanity linked to the Gaza conflict.
Meanwhile, Israel is also confronting a genocide case brought before the International Court of Justice over its military actions in the enclave.
